Claire Bord said:
‘Gail’s journey, from being told she’d be wheelchair bound by the age of forty to embarking on one of the world’s toughest treks, The Appalachian Trail, is an incredible testament to the power of the human spirit. Her story is one of resilience, bravery and above all, hope. This is not just a remarkable account of a tough physical challenge but also one of healing the mind as well as the body. Gail is a passionate advocate for the great outdoors and how vital they are to our health and wellbeing. There are not nearly enough books by female adventurers and Gail’s story will inspire women everywhere.’
Gail commented:
I am so excited to be working with Claire and the team at Thread to bring my story of hope to readers. In our currently confined and constricted world, my tale of overcoming terrible odds to be brought back to life through an epic journey is one that many of us can aspire to. I can’t wait to share my passion for the outdoors, human tenacity and all that can be achieved even in the darkest times, and I am thrilled that Claire shares this vision too.

At a time when many of us are trapped in our current locations, Gail’s adventurous spirit and fascinating stories have lifted me from my desk and transported me to the wild outdoors. I’m excited for her book to reach other people who can also live vicariously through her story.’
