Thread and Octopus Publishing Group launch print partnership
Thread, the non-fiction imprint of Bookouture are teaming up with the Octopus Publishing Group to launch a print partnership.
Florence Ọlájídé’s Coconut – a memoir of adoption and searching for belonging and identity – will be the first title to be published in paperback by Octopus this July. It marks the start of a new UK print partnership in which Octopus will simultaneously publish physical editions alongside Thread’s ebook and audio formats.
Anna Bond, Managing Director at Octopus, said of the partnership,
‘Octopus are delighted to be working with Bookouture’s Thread imprint to enable their talented list of non fiction authors to reach physical book readers. We are also especially pleased to be able to help booksellers share in Bookouture’s new non fiction venture which has been so impressive to watch online.’
Titles to be launched by Octopus in paperback this year include Gail Muller’s Unlost – an inspirational account of Gail’s journey completing the Appalachian Trail against all odds, Mona Hajjar Halaby’s memoir In My Mother’s Footsteps: A Palestinian Refugee Returns Home and recent signing, My Mother, Munchausen’s and Me by Helen Naylor. Thread Publisher, Claire Bord, acquired World English Language rights in Helen Naylor’s moving and shocking memoir of her mother’s mental illness from Caroline Hardman at the Hardman & Swainson Literary Agency.
Bookouture’s Managing Director Jenny Geras commented,
‘Bookouture’s success in reaching huge audiences for our digital formats, combined with the brilliant expertise of the Octopus team to bring our books to market in physical editions, is the perfect partnership. It signals the start of Thread’s ambitious plans for growth over the next two years.’
Launched in May 2020, Bookouture’s non-fiction imprint Thread has published Amazon UK bestsellers including Take My Hand – a joint memoir on grief and motherhood by Kerry Fisher and Pat Sowa, Joanna Fortune’s 15 Minute Parenting series and most recently, the ebook edition of the ground-breaking feminist classic, Betty Friedan’s The Feminine Mystique.
