Raised in California, Mona Hajjar Halaby, grew up with her mother’s memories of Palestine. Years later, as an adult, she had the opportunity to visit Palestine as part of a teaching job.

In her book, In My Mother’s Footsteps, she chronicles her experience of travelling to Palestine and embarking upon a personal pilgrimage to find her mother’s home in militarised and occupied Jerusalem. You can read an exclusive chapter of the book on Gal-Dem.
