Thread to publish true crime story by Thomas & Mercer bestselling author

Through the Gate will be published in January 2022 in ebook, paperback and audio.

Scheduled for January 2022, Through the Gate explores the story of the first recorded mass shooting in the United States. In 1949, twenty-eight-year-old Howard Barton Unruh shot thirteen people in less than twelve minutes on his block in East Camden, New Jersey. With access to newly released police reports, eyewitness accounts and extensive interviews with the family of Raymond Havens who knew the killer and witnessed the unfolding tragedy first-hand, this is a fascinating account of a terrifying historical event that until now has been largely forgotten. Claire Bord acquired World rights from Jessica Alvarez at Bookends Literary Agency.

Claire said:

‘With Ellen’s meticulous eye for detail and research including new insights and access to diaries and the family of Raymond who was twelve-years-old at the time, she will be bringing to life the chilling story of Howard Barton Unruh as never been seen before.’
