Thread sign Sharon Maas for childhood memoir

Claire Bord has acquired world rights in a childhood memoir by Bookouture fiction author Sharon Maas for non-fiction imprint Thread.

Sharon will share her story of growing up in Guyana during the fifties and then going off to a boarding school in England at the age of ten where she was the only dark-skinned girl.

Bord said, ‘Sharon’s story is incredible, covering the childhood freedom of her early years in Guyana against the backdrop of institutionalised racism, with parents who were prominent political activists, through to her time at school in England. Sharon’s experience is one that we don’t often get to read about and so I’m delighted to be publishing this very special book on the Thread list.’

Sharon commented, ‘I’m delighted that I’ve been given this opportunity to write about my early years. My childhood growing up in Guyana in the turbulent colonial and post-colonial era created precious memories, and made lasting impressions on my adult life, as well as providing insight and motivation for many of my novels. It will be a joy to relive and share these memories with readers.’

Sharon’s memoir will be published in ebook, paperback and audio in June 2021.
